Horror

So I started this blog in order to have a forum to talk about and discuss horror movies. I have always loved horror movies and I feel that horror movies touch us all in a very primal spot emotionally.

Horror movies, good ones at that, tune into all of our most primal fears. The fear of what we cant see, we cant hear, we cant feel and the ability of not being safe; which are all things that as humans can scare us. All of those fear traits which is most fearful for that individual usually dictates which movie scares you the most like Freddy, Jason, Ghost, Zombies etc. Many of the good scary movies usually are not that bloody, might not have that many kills or might not have a disfigured killer. But they do have darkness, weird noises, and don't allow you to see the things we want to know like what is behind the door, the shadow out the window.

Good scary movies are also original...a new idea or a twist on a old idea. it seems in the horror and also in the movie world in general we are stuck in the case of the constant remake. EVERYTHING is being remade....wonder if they can remake me to look like i did when I was 21??? I think what is great about originality is you dont know what to expect thus when you watch the movie you have no idea what is going to happen next this makes the experience that much better...even if it ends up being a bad idea you still have that element of surprise...even if the surprise was that it sucked.

I think as horror movie lovers we can all find our things about this genera as to what is important and not important for a good horror....These are just a few of my thoughts....
