Terror Tuesday

Just to warn you the first few post the reason that they are no real reviews or information is as more of a background into me and also my thoughts of horror in general.
So how I became a horror movie fan was I think by mistake. I remember when I was about 10 years old my dad used to watch Nightmare on Elm Street and used to have us watch them with him. I remember those movies just scaring the hell right out of me. and to make matters worst my cousin used to have this life size Freddy poster in his room. I consciously remember every time I would go into his room I would make sure not to look at the wall where that poster was. and when I speak to my Dad about horror movies now we laugh how years later I love the one thing and the one movies that used to frighten me the most.
Freddy by far is one of my favorite horror villains in the horror movie genre and my second favorite franchise (Halloween is the first). I think that this franchise and also character works so well and resonates with so many of us is at some time in our life we all thought there was some sort of boogie-man, Ghost what ever name you had for it.
The first movie was just so classic and I think will forever be timeless because I think that given that you didn't see much of Freddy and he was this shadow that just added to the scare of him. Some of the scenes that I think are great especially when you are talking about dreams is when she is running up the stairs in her house during the large fight sequence in the end. I don't know about others but I can never run in my dreams. It is always that slow motion feeling and just that sense of frustration because you cant get what you want is something that I have experienced in my own dreams.
as that franchise grew I think that some of the later movies were a bit weak from a plot perspective but I think that for us fan of Freddy as a character and also as a franchise we don't care.
As a fan of that franchise when the talks of a new Nightmare on Elm Street movie started to get talk my ears perked right up...obviously when it came up the first question is will Robert England be Freddy and I think that we all gasped in the moment we heard he wasn't..I think that Billy Bob Thorton was in talks at one point to be Freddy (which I thought would have been good) but then obviously in the end Jackie Earle Haley  took on the role, which I feel he did brilliantly. and having been a fan of the originals it was great to see some elements of all the original movies brought into the remake.
